Police clashed in downtown Erzsébet tér on Saturday afternoon with a few hundred demonstrators who gathered to protest at Thursday’s court ruling dissolving the Magyar Gárda paramilitary group.
One of the 216 detained was Gábor Vona, head of the Gárda and its affiliated radical right-wing party Jobbik. He was released early Sunday morning. Most of those detained were released Saturday evening.
Hungary’s Jobbik (Movement for a Better Hungary) party won just under 15% of the votes in this year’s European election. Jobbik has a paramilitary group called the “Magyar Garda” (Hungarian Guard) which is more or less their Sturmabteilung.
Jobbik’s policies, philosophy, platform and methods are similar to those which should be used for an Aryanist Party. Therefore, the result of Jobbik and an Aryanist Party, particularly the reaction of the masses and the government, will also be similar. This arrest, for whatever reasons it was made, will necessarily be an example of the same problems an Aryanist party will face in Europe. For this reason, the progress of Jobbik and the Magyar Garda should be tracked and analysed to develop counter-strategies and for a more accurate measure of a government’s opposition to an Aryanist party.
Update - 17th July
Over the past few weeks the government has become increasingly determined to remove Jobbik. For some reason, they feel the best way to do this is through physical suppression. The Guard’s repetitive and determined protests must be emulated when this situation arises for an Aryanist movement. The following videos should the measures the government, through the police, are willing to implement; but more importantly, the spirit of the Guard. Most importantly we should note that their determination seems to be akin to that of Codreanu’s and likewise the police’s attempts to provoke them have failed.
