Hitler was and remained a Roman Catholic. He used much ambiguity when discussing religion or metaphysics, 95% of Germany at the time was either Catholic or Protestant as were most of his party members, and the faith in those religions was much stronger in conviction and establishment than today, and Hitler had to consider these convictions very carefully. He believed the Old Testament to be a complete Jewish forgery and the NT to have an Aryan basis.

Overall National Socialism of the Third Reich was a new religion which would have eventually replaced any form of Christianity or Judaic religion existing previously, was this part of Hitler’s vision? Probably, especially towards the end, he become more opposed to the Church as time went on. I think he believed in a fair fight, he wanted to give the people the choice, that is really important to understand, he did not attack the Church and Christians directly as they did not attack him, Hitler believed in chivalry not assassination. Allow me to add some of my views on the Fuhrer’s own religion and whereabouts. I think in his manners, morals and religion he was at the sharpest cutting edge of the German gentry of his time. His spirit has eternal qualities that will be forever beyond our understanding, but he also lived on earth in a very real time and place that can enable us to begin to understand him.

Like most very up-to-date Germans of his time, his spiritual father was Richard Wagner and he became intimate with the Wagner family, especially with Cosima Wagner, Houston Stewart Chamberlin and Winifred Wagner. Richard Wagner belonged to that lineage of heroes who have championed a reintegration of the Nordic Folk into a new transformed Catholic Church, prominent among them Michelangelo, Montaigne, Shakespeare, King Henri IV of France, Leibnitz and William Blake. This was also the religious vision of the Fuhrer shared by many other spiritual heirs of the Wagners.

Like most Roman Catholics through history, Hitler had an aversion against the Old Testament because of its emphasis on Jewish evil and the early Aryans’ brutal struggles against the ancient proto-Jew “Mixed Multitude” with their Amalekite or Edomite leaders. He also disliked that book because, especially through the Pontificate of Pope Pius XI (1922-1939), it became obvious the Christians had repeated the Old Testament pattern and would also require a destruction of their Old Ways for Truth to be able to reappear in a New Way. The Fuhrer’s death was not a cut-and-dried case of suicide. It remains the greatest unsolved mystery of the Twentieth Century.
